I have a question
It's regarding the next game.
Recently I've been playing a lot of date sims to get acquainted with the genre for my own game. And I've come to find out that, instead of a linear story where you would make choices that would guide you to your love interest at the end of it (Everlasting Summer), there has also been a perhaps, simpler path: Prologue, where the characters are established, and after it, you just decide who you want to pursue, by choosing a specific route and then seeing how well it plays out with your choices in it (Pub Encounter).
Due to this, I wondered if it would be easier, and more comfortable for the player to enjoy. And so, I ask you, what should I do:
Option 1. Make it so you can interact with anyone, even if it would lock you out of an ending for a specific character, if you still decide to pursue many of their routes for the limited amount of time you have.
Option 2. Make it so that after the prologue, you can decide what character route you will pursue throughout the whole game, always returning to interactions with them.
(also the second option might be easier for programming
cough
admittedly i'm not sure i explained it properly
so please don't fret to ask me to clarify)
What is the best OST out of a video game in your opinion?
For me, it has to be Rayman Raving Rabbids (Wii,PS2,PC,Xbox)
they really are good at picking licensed music and the Rabbid covers of them are so fucking funny
imagine a Rabbid singing the line "This ain't got shit to do with shampoo, but watch your head and shoulder" (or don't just search for the song on KHinsider or on Youtube for the uncensored one "Hip Hop Hooray") and the other songs too, they really enjoyed a lot making this songs/covers I bet
I think the Fuga trilogy and Monster Hunter series have good soundtracks. I don't really pay attention to the music in games/tv/movies so if it's good enough to make me pay attention that's a good sign I guess.
If you mean full OSTs (like all songs from an album), i'd say Sovereign Tower's and Pentiment's albums are my big faves
I also really like some of the tracks from Elden Ring, Darktide and Vermintide
Me and a few friends cooked up an entry for the second toxic yuri jam :) I did writing and character art. Please check it out if you have free time (though heed the warnings).

Hello! I'm currently making a very big visual novel with the help of nemmy.net's VN editor and there's this section in the game where a character is going to ask 4 questions individually before getting 4 answers (in any order), before the game will resume as normal
I really liked the menu in the tutorial game in the "tutorial" section where upon choosing any options, it would take you back to the menu, and the option you chose previously wouldn't be there anymore
I'm at my wits end and i don't know how to properly arrange that. Programming is foreign to me, and if it can be arranged using already existing commands in it, please let me know.
Any help would be appreciated!!!
You can PRINT myChoice to see what its current value is. It's a tool to help you understand what's going on if things get complicated.
It'll show you that `myChoice` is a simple value and `options` is a list of options.
You can also print things with a CODE cmd (because `options` is only accessible in code):
console.log(myChoice)
console.log(options)
Then wait, what makes "myChoice = game.dialog.choice(options)" return back to the original list of options after selecting one of them? that's what i've been trying to achieve and having difficulties with it
As i've said in the first post, i'm not tech-savy or good with programming so it's very confusing to me
`options` is the original list of options. It's a complex variable that contains many values. It doesn't change unless you manipulate it.
options["text"] = 9 will associate "text" with 9. You write `= undefined` to undo any association and remove that text,
`game.dialog.choice(options)` simply shows the options. `thing = game.dialog.choice(options)` will tell `thing` which item was selected.
It's a *little* confusing because `options` is like a dictionary. It'll tell you that "Text" is associated with `9` if you write `"Text": 9` and ask for "Text".
I never intended for people to memorize this stuff, but I haven't put in the work to make every possibility into a button yet 😅
Btw if you'd like real-time support, we have a Discord link on top of the site!
PEAK???!?!?!?!??!?!?!!!!!!!
i still have no idea what the full grasp of txt could be but i'm trusting your beautiful vision mizi.... 🥹
this made me go through so many emotions i really really like your writing and the art is as usual so awesome... would love to hear you talk about this with me anytime!!
MIZIII I love you sm more than you will EVER understand. Thank you for putting messy love into art and thank God for your beautiful art to accompany it. I adore you to bits!
Crazy work for a day-1 novel. Nobody else has used it this thoroughly yet, so I'm just now realizing I have a few features to improve. I'll put a fade effect when characters go idle so that viewers will recognize the talking character without glancing away from the name. Refinement through testing!
Anyway, crazy work doing all the characters and backgrounds so fast with a really nice style
THE BEATLES, THE ROLLING STONES, and JIM MORRISON MENTIONED?!?! okay lets put the fangirling to the side, your visual novel WIP is really interactive and engaging! I super love the art style and all genderbent characters, keep going! :>>
The engine is defiantly not ready for more elaborate games yet but i got... something out of it lol. Might expand on this more later once the engine gets fleshed out and some missing java script features are added or have suitable replacements.
