yeah, with username and password is enough, this page doesn't require an email to make a permanent account
the email option was added after people lost their accounts because they forgot their passwords lol
Ngl if you go to our Discord and DM me I might give you a password reset link (at my own discretion). If your account didn't have much on it then you can just make another one. Emails can be added to existing accounts too. Do this as soon as possible so you won't forget.
I will honor your request for account deletion. Give me 48 hours to implement it. The single offending image (which was posted by a new user) has been removed but its full surrounding context remains in the public Discord. Users are free to join the Discord and/or request the deleted Discord image and form their own judgements. I take minimal responsibility for posts made by users. I am sole active moderator, and I moderate with my own judgement.
Sorry to see you go. All users are welcome to leave, return, and to post opinions of staff.
Update: All your posts are deleted except for this thread.
I have organized a clan of our users to establish and lay claim to a village on the modernbeta.org/ server, on the behalf of nemmy.net.
The base is located at 9619, 64, 9380 (Nether: 1200, 64, 1162).
Post screenshots and updates here.
This thread is a continuation of the original blog post: nemmy.net/blog/33836121...
Hello everyone! Frequent users noticed a silent but HUGE update. Let's dig in:
- New site theme inspired by 2010s iOS aesthetics. Very retro.
- Profile banners
- Improved paint box. You can drag and zoom, and it's not confined to any portion of the site.
- Economy (nemmy.net/balance). Log in, make posts, and invite users (even existing ones) for points.
- Star reactions. You can star a post multiple times too, but it'll cost you.
- You can link to other sites. Here's an archive of old nemmy: web.archive.org/web/202...
- Novls can be exported to HTML5 for itch.io, newgrounds.com, and other game sites.
You can also see the download progress when you start a game.
- Nemmy's internet speed is 100x faster so games load instantly (if your internet is fast too).
- Optional: Add your email so you can never forget your password: nemmy.net/panel/profile
(I wanted this to be a no-email site, but 25% of users forgot their passwords. Seriously.)
When i click in a image, it redirects me to the .png address in the website, and every time i need to go back to the website pressing undo in my browser history
I would like to suggest a image display that covers full-screen when pressed, and when it's clicked outside of the image OR press a "X" button, go back to where i was
I got a habit when i open a image address, i just close the window, and it got me again to close the website to exit a picture
For the time being, you can drag images (both nemmy-canvas-made and not) onto the tab bar and it will open them as a seperate tab. Or not. I'm not your dad.
Just had to do a captcha to comment something, it had two number "1"s (or were they lower case Ls? honestly not sure but they WERE identical), I filled in the captcha correctly and it considered it a failure, my guess is it expected the two 1s in the opposite order lmao.
@dbwizard If you were suddenly cured of colorblindness then you'd quickly realize that they *still* blend together regardless. They really are that hard.
@admin 'bout once a week tops, I think. It was almost daily when I first joined but it's a lot better now. Also getting asked to do a captcha while in the middle of somethign USED to ruin the post and I'd have to do it again but now it works flawlessly, can't complain now. ^v^
- Audio uploads work
- Volume sliders will remember your preference
- Posts in threads can display multiple files
- Links are clickable (only nemmy.net links for now)
- Miscellaneous file types (ZIP and others) are displayed as downloads
- Fixed Novls wasting your bandwidth when you visit Nemmy. Now only the thumbnail is loaded until you click play.
Improved post editor:
- Use the "Insert" button on a file to insert it into the middle of your post
- The "Preview" tab will show your post accurately
(Note: Novls and speedpaints are previewed as regular images until you submit the post.)
(Note 2: A speedpaint you're currently making also won't show in the preview until you submit the post)
Jummbox support may come later.
I feel like an option to make lines squiggle would go really hard with the low res aesthetics of the paint tool here! It's really fun to draw here so any alternative mods like animation or squiggly lines would make it even enjoyable
@ratmasquerade I've thought about that! A wiggle feature would work on the existing paintings too. Each frame will re-draw the entire image from scratch with shifted brush inputs. Paintings with hundreds of fills and thousands of strokes might be laggy... I haven't tested the rendering speed. I could be lazy and use a distortion filter but it will look different. This feature will have to wait a while.
Animation is a scary one because it needs a comfy UI or else it'll be really unbearable.

I have a squigglevision effect over at my own website and uses like a distortion filter approach and it's quite okay in performance to be honest. The only issue with it is that it physically moves pixels around in order to achieve the effect, as i mainly use it for text.
Beepbox and their mods have a embed feature that i think would feat very well to this website that lacks a sound engine
And because it's MIT license, i believe it does not have problems to use
I'm proposing this idea because it looks sketchy if i post the short link: tinyurl.com/2af555xb
Or the humangus gynormous original link:
jummb.us/
@d3l_le7 I LOVE THIS IDEA! This gives me a reason to add audio support now! I'll make a dedicated jummbox button for users to put links. JSON file support too. But first, I gotta see if it's practical, easy, and lightweight to integrate it. Also, I'd have to choose a variant. I *think* jummbox is more popular than regular beepbox? Idk
Also I gotta fix image embeds. I forgot that I allow multiple files in a post without actually displaying them
@admin, to get the embed of a project, in the right side of jummbox editor, you click File->Copy HTML Embed Code
using the same example i post before, this is what it returns
<iframe width="384" height="60" style="border: none;" src="jummb.us/player/
i had tested it by just getting a blank html page and pasting in, and (if i can be able to show a image) it looks like this:
/upload/317674942294392832-image.png
idk if this will help
Added:
- A visual novel creator on the front page
- A tutorial video
- A new board for posting games
- Video exports for speedpaints. Now you can easily share them outside the site.
- Bigger, more noticeable "New post" buttons
Fixed:
- You can upload any avatar without having to manually crop it
- Profile pics don't cover the dropdown on mobile
- You don't get logged out after 2 months anymore
- Users hit by the auto-logout have been auto-logged in
- Video players aren't stretched now
- Various novl bugs are fixed, including video recording
the update EVER!!!!
however... I'm thinking a dedicated music board would be amazing for us music heads
since art is mostly the speedpaint thingamabob and music isn't really junk
it'll be so awesome and cool!!!
Lots of bug fixes and new features.
Web editor:
- The Spotlight feature highlights the talking character
- Characters can have different text colors
- New CODE cmd for writing code. This lets you do things that were impossible before.
- The MOVE cmd can perfectly move characters to the right/bottom without going off-screen
- New log which shows game errors and other output. It turns red when the game crashes.
- Fixed screenshots on 1280x720 rendering funny
- Fixed idle animations
- Added tooltips to explain "Pixel art" and other settings
Web player:
- Games can be clicked/played on the timeline without it switching pages
Code editor:
- Added Z-ordering: `sprite.show(1)` will show above sprites 0 while still being underneath the UI. This makes UI skinning easier.
- Added string properties: length, substring
- Added array properties: length, push, pop, splice
- Added math and bit operations like **, %, Math.pow(), etc...
Summer's almost here! It's about time for the first visual novel event.
If you're sitting on music, art, or lots of random PNGs then you're gonna make something neat with it (or share it with someone else who will).
It doesn't have to be a story. It can be an interactive widget on your profile or anything in-between.
If you haven't already:
- Upload any art to your profile/gallery
- Join the discord link at the top of the site (nemmy.net/discord)
- Show off your stuff and your ideas in this thread and our Discord
And remember: You'll never need any account to participate in the event or post on the site.
The visual novel update is here. The process of making a visual novel is a lil rough, but you can get started by downloading the editor here:
github.com/nemmy-net/no...
And download+run some sample games here:
github.com/nemmy-net/no...
Tutorial videos, official site downloads, and an improved editor will come later.
In the meantime, I encourage you to experiment with it. After this is polished in the next few weeks I will make social media announcements. Your art, visual novels, and speedpaints will be the first things that newcomers see!
Here are some tips:
- KEEP YOUR GAME ASSETS SMALL. You want your game to load fast over the internet! Use JPEGs, GIFs for pixel art, scale images down, etc.
- Your novl.json file has a "width" and "height". Smaller sizes means it will scale better on mobile screens. 640x480 is the default. 300x600 will give you a nice mobile-friendly vertical layout, etc
The code for the following game is available in the links above:
@rocktobot It's all scripts. You can accomplish anything. Also the blue thing is a random GIF. I made that game as a sort of test room while building the engine.
@avedo Yes but not soon. When I have time, I will prioritize custom canvas sizes and improved UI (which a layers system needs). Dev time is scarce and I'm spending it on new toys for the site rn. Indie sites like this are cursed with verrrry slow development but that's no problem because soon we will have 1 billion users :p
Some new changes and some old changes that were unannounced for months.
I'll start with the newest:
- Galleries now showcase your character tags just like Toyhouse.
- You can easily create character tags WHILE tagging your post.
- Fixed Discord embeds for gallery posts.
- You'll be warned when closing the site during an upload.
- Fixed the delete button on blogs.
- The gallery tiles show ALL images in every post, instead of one image per post.
- You can comment on gallery posts.
- Your followers are notified when someone comments on your profile.
- ALL posts show in the timeline now. Galleries, blogs, etc. (You can opt to hide them too)
More layout fixes:
- Speedpaints won't clip outside the post.
- Videos in the gallery aren't massive anymore (I typo-d the CSS class).
- Videos in threads can fullscreen properly.
- Images in threads are a lil bigger and don't get squished next to the text anymore. This takes more vertical space but it's better for mobile users. I can't be bothered to keep unique optimal layouts for every platform rn.
