Get started with the button and the tutorial video below:

Create a novel

1. Download the editor.
2. Download the example games.
3. Open the tutorial's novl.json file in the editor.
4. Play the tutorial while reading the code inside main.js.
5. Use File > New to create a blank game, or copy/edit one of the example games.
6. When ready, use File > Publish and upload the resulting .novl file in a post.

Tips

• Keep your final game small if you want it to load fast!
• Shrink images that are larger than your game resolution (the default is 640x480).
• Remove unused assets.
• Read the example exclude.txt file. It automatically removes project files (like Photoshop documents) from your published game.
• Convert PNGs to JPEG if you don't need transparency.
• Use pixel art.
